Last years wildfire season broke multiple records for its intensity, with over 6,000 wildfires last year. the scale of the fires, global smoke effects, the length of the season, and the national impacts, all contributed to the worst season that Canadians have ever seen

Smoke from these fires made for the worst air quality not only in Canada but moving to the United States as well.

Currently the wildfire services are hiring 30 to 35 people a week heading up to the May hiring deadline. The government of Canada released its forecast and early modeling of the weather for this summer, the report indicates we could face another catastrophic fire season.

Public Safety Canada is collaborating with organizations to develop a readiness pilot within the humanitarian workforce program.

Currently 65 wildfires still burn from last season meaning the start of this season will be significantly harder on firefighters as more fires build up.
