The sport of pickleball is becoming one of the most popular sports in the city of Calgary gaining popularity because of its low barrier to entry.

In Calgary, there are no more than 4 outdoor pickleball courts and with the weather getting warmer people want to get outside to play their favourite sport, the Calgary Pickleball Club is looking to change that. The club announced that they are planning to facilitate a 20-court outdoor pickleball park as the need for pickleball-designated courts is very high.
People who want to play pickleball in the city can play at a pickleball court or they can rent out tennis courts. However, with limited pickleball courts available, many players are left with no choice but to rent tennis courts. Unfortunately, playing pickleball on tennis courts can be problematic, as the tennis nets are too short for pickleball. Therefore, players are required to bring their own nets and set them up.
There are places to play and most of them are tennis courts so we have to put the pickleball net on the courts so they bring your own net or the Calgary pickleball club has nets that they set up on the courts so it’s not ideal in that situation. – Cat Hackman
Plans are underway for the construction of a new outdoor pickleball park in Calgary. The park is intended to provide a designated space for pickleball and enable the city to host significant events and run various pickleball programs. The Calgary Pickleball Club hopes to organize pickleball-based championship events at the new park, as they currently lack the necessary facilities
Plans for a new outdoor 20-court pickleball project are currently underway. The project is still in its early stages, and the Calgary Pickleball Club has successfully raised $245,000 toward their goal of $2.9 million.
