Calgary street cleaning postponed to winter weather

The weather in Calgary has been up and down so far this spring, and Calgary’s annual street cleaning is being postponed because of the winter weather.

The snow began falling late Monday night and continued falling all throughout the night and going into Tuesday, where it faltered off throughout the day with some areas of the city getting up to 10 cm of total snow. This pushed back some of the street-sweeping operations across the city including Citadel and Coventry Hills.

“Accumulating snow and ice can create challenges for our sweeping equipment,” explained a news release. As such, sweeping operations originally scheduled for Wednesday will be rescheduled to June.

All other sweeping scheduled for Wednesday is continuing.
