Trojans banquet a success

Calgary, AB, Canada / RTBN

The SAIT athletic banquet is officially over and many winners were crowned on Thursday night as many ACAC, CCAA, rookies and coaches were recognized for another successful 2024 campaign.

Many SAIT teams faced a few challenges this year as teams had to travel off campus to practice in the morning, or late a night, so a night in celebration felt it was in order for the 350 Trojan athletes.

“So definitely a lot of teams have to show resiliency through the year to stay committed to venues outside campus really really early practices. Late afternoon, stay up to date with travel on the weekends and on top of that, they have to keep up with studies. ” says Head of Student and Wellness Activities, David Miguez.

Every team celebrated an MVP award to their teams, while some recognized either Trojan of the year or Freshman of the year, while other leadership, resiliency, or three pillar awards were given out.

Some of this years winners include from the woman’s hockey team, Sydney Hollman as the rookie of the year, Kaylin Schellenberg for MVP of the year, Trojan of the year was given to Pyper Alexander.

For the SAIT Golf team, Jake Magee was given Trojan of the year, Jadan Patel was given Trojan of the Year, and Brady Bruns was given Rookie of the Year.

For the Men’s Hockey team, Andrew McLean won the leadership and freshman award, Tye Carrier won the Trojan of the year and Brandon Machado won the MVP.

Overall, it was a successful night and a successful season for the SAIT Trojans, who hope to develop into a bigger attraction for athletes, and hope the construction of the new campus centre in a few years, turn into the juggernaut for all sports in the ACAC.
