Fans react to Flames and Hitmen hitting the golf course early

With both the Flames and Hitmen being officially eliminated from the playoffs, many fans were disappointed with the outcomes of both teams but optimistic for the future.

“I think the future is bright”

The Flames are currently 33-33-5 on the year as of March 28th and have a had a fairly mediocre year in a division that requires excellence to make it far.

As for the Hitmen, they were fighting for a spot till the very end, being eliminated by the Red Deer Rebels on Friday, March 22nd.

They finished the year with a record of 28-31-8, just one spot out of the WHL playoffs.

“They’ve got to make some changes”

Most fans were disappointed with the outcomes, primarily for the Flames.

One fan would say, “It’s unfortunate of course but I think they have come a long way considering they got both a new manager (Craig Conroy) and a new coach (Ryan Huska) who have both done a good job. I think the future is bright.”

Another would say “I was very disappointed but considering they were sellers at the trade deadline, it wasn’t really a surprise”.

He would say this in reference of the Flames moving on from prominent players Elias Lindholm, Chris Tanev and Noah Hanifin in favor of picking up some younger talent.

As for the Hitmen, it seems like there is certainly optimism for the future for Calgary’s junior team.

One Hitmen fan would say “Yeah they’ve got to make some changes but junior hockey goes in cycles so they’ve got some young guys coming up.
