Several people were taken into custody after a shooting in the southeast Calgary community of Radisson Heights on Tuesday night.
Emergency crews responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire around 6:55 p.m. in the 2700 block of 12th Avenue S.E.
Police and EMS found injured individuals at the scene. One person was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, but has since been upgraded to stable. Another person suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
A nearby resident told CTV News the gunfire sounded sporadic and said he counted more than 15 rounds fired in two minutes.
“Once police arrived, we located a scene with multiple rounds that had been fired off,” said Insp. Mike Schute with the Calgary Police Service. “We learned that two vehicles had an interaction — multiple rounds were fired and believed to be return-fired.”
The vehicles fled the scene, and police say several people were later seen entering a nearby apartment. Investigators believe the incident was targeted.
Police confirmed several individuals were taken into custody at the scene, but no charges have been laid at this time.
