The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) has climbed to fourth place on Research Infosource Inc.’s 2024 list of the Top 50 Research Colleges in Canada, rising from sixth place in the previous year’s rankings.
At the heart of SAIT’s success is the Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS) hub, which features state-of-the-art research labs and facilities. The ARIS team, with over 80 experts, focuses on a range of key research areas, including environmentally friendly technology, digital manufacturing, unmanned vehicle systems, and green energy initiatives.
ARIS works with many companies to develop projects and prototypes. According to Erika Barrios, ARIS Operations Manager, their improved ranking shifted with the team’s increased dedication to innovation. “What was different is that we work harder…looking for new research projects and engaging with our industry partners to get more innovative,” she said.
The enthusiastic atmosphere at the ARIS hub has people around the office excited for the future. Nelia Julca, a student grant administrator at ARIS, says SAIT is great. “I see innovative minds. We are able to create. We have brilliant people working here.”
As innovation and development continue at the ARIS hub, SAIT remains one of Canada’s top colleges leading the way in research and technological advancement.
