Spring Clean Up: Reviving Our Streets and Communities

The City of Calgary is starting its annual spring street sweep on April 14th. Running from mid-April to July, the sweep will cover over 16,000 kilometres of roadways, helping to keep the city clean and safe for residents.

The goal of these street sweeps is to maintain clean and safe neighbourhoods while preventing debris from entering waterways through the stormwater system.

To ensure the process runs smoothly and safely, the city will implement community parking bans during designated sweeping hours. Vehicles parked in restricted areas may face fines ranging from $80 to $120 or be towed.

Residents are also reminded to place their disposal bins on their lawns on the day of the sweep. Major roadways and highways will be cleaned during nighttime hours to decrease traffic disruptions.

The total cost of the sweeping program is estimated at $7 million.

Calgarians are encouraged to watch for notifications and signs in their neighbourhoods to stay updated on when their street will be cleaned.
