Eastern Canada experienced the Path of Totality on Monday April 8th, which is when the moon completely cover the moon and we experience total darkness.
Western Canada only saw a partial eclipse, with Calgary seeing only 40% coverage. despite that fact many SAIT students were outside with glasses on breathing in the event.
Although not quite as big as the University of Calgary’s gathering students Like Vira Shabanova and Damon Noble got to experience it even for a brief moment.
Shabanova said “I was just walking around to go play some soccer on the field and then I saw someone with a pair of glasses they let me try it on I saw the solar solar eclipse it’s pretty cool.’
Noble added he was in class when it started but he saw “that they were doing like a watch party. So I came up, but it didn’t have the special glasses. So just kind of look through the window. But it was really cool. I never got to experience anything like that before.”
Although not a full Path of Tranquility for us the pictures and videos online can do them justice until we experience our own, which is expected to be seen in Alberta in 2044, the next partial eclipse however will be in 2026.
