Last day of SAITSA election

Calgary, AB, Canada / RTBN
Last day of SAITSA election

Today is the final day to vote in SAIT’s student association’s election.

Out of fifteen candidates, nine will fill the seats of SAITSA Board of directors and represent the SAIT students for the next year. From adding more microwaves on campus, to hosting more cultural celebrations, to helping with grants and scholarships, there’s a candidate for everything.

Last year’s election received 12 per cent student voter turnout, and SAITSA representative, Husson Zaman, is optimistic they’ll surpass that number this year.

“Ballots opened at 8am on Sunday, and roughly 50 hours into the election season now and it’s roughly 8% of the board turnout, which is fantastic and we still have over 40 hours left for keeping on that trajectory we’ll be looking at somewhere in the mid teens, which is, again, really near record numbers and way above standard when it comes to post secondary engagement”

Students can access their ballots via an email that was sent out on Sunday. Voting closes at 4 p.m. today.
