SAIT is always on the hunt for the latest in cutting edge innovation and the SAITSA’s Polar Jam Expo highlighted a few new apps for students to make their lives easier, on campus.
A brand new app focuses on campus safety. SAIT Alert is a security app that links SAIT students with direct access to the campus’ security team.
The new app gives students the ability to have live chats with the security team, or request a “safe-walk,” which allows students to have someone from security escort them to their car or transit, if they’re stuck late on campus.
Students can also link to a friend so they can keep an eye on you, and make sure you arrive home safe.
The new app also gives out real-time notifications in the event of a campus emergency.
Chris Gerritsen from SAIT’s Media Relations says he recommends all students and staff to download the app for peace of mind and a safer campus experience.
Gerritsen also added that you need to active the “push notification” setting on the app to get real time updates and make sure security can find you if you’re in any trouble.
The SAIT Alert App is already going strong with over 12 hundred downloads so far.
Another handy app is linked to a campus staple, the Odyssey Coffeehouse.
The coffee house is one of several hubs for students to relax or find a quiet place to study, but what if your too busy to hang out and enjoy your beverage? Well there’s an app for that.
Oydessy now has its very own app that allows students to pre-order their food or drink, and even set a time to pick it up between classes.
Both apps are available for free download on Google Play store and the Apple App store.
