Taking care of a loved one diagnosed with a mental health issue can be very difficult for a family to deal with, and seeking help isn’t always easy. However, Minister of Health Sarah Hoffman spoke on Tuesday in a conference about a proposed legislation that would protect people seeking mental and addiction health services.
Hoffman states that out of the hundreds of phone calls and emails the government have received, many people were not aware that there were no previous regulations when it came to the people offering these services. Unlicensed and unqualified individuals were often giving the wrong assistance to people who needed help.
The government will now be working towards creating new regulations that will ensure people can have access to the proper care by licensed professionals.
