Cannabis shortage in Canada causing stores to close

Calgary, AB, Canada / RTBN

Cannabis demand has been booming in Calgary after the legalization of marijuana on October 17, but unfortunately many stores cannot keep up.

Initially some Calgary stores had limited hours upon opening but now some stores have completely shut down business while they wait for more product to come in.

Calgary store owner of Global Leaf, Raj Birk, is among one of the stores who have closed their doors. Birk says he is keeping some of his staff in charge of monitoring stock online while they patiently await more product in hopes that he will be back open in a couple of weeks.

Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC ) are trying its best to keep up with the demand but its not just the province of Alberta struggling, many other Canadian provinces are also seeing a shortage and high demand.

It is estimated that by the end of next year a total of 250 retailers across Alberta should be up operating.
