Cleaning up Alberta’s oil patch could cost more than Albertan’s think

Calgary, AB, Canada / RTBN

Cleaning up Alberta’s oil patch could cost nearly $260 billion according to internal regulatory documents.

Rob Wadsworth, an official fromĀ  Alberta’s Energy Regulator, told Global that the liabilities caused by Alberta’s energy industry are far higher than the amount made public by the government and industry officials.

Up until now, the public has been under the assumption that the liabilities were calculated at about $58 billion, which is far less than what Wadsworth said.
