Known as Canada’s largest and scariest Halloween event, this year will mark Calgary ‘s final Screamfest. The yearly October event goes for 13 days at Stampede Park. Starting back in 2005, Screamfest is where Calgarians could go to a variety of haunted houses and many other spooktacular attractions.
One of the reasons Screamfest is going into the gravel, is because of cost of recertifying and keeping up the maintenance of the haunted houses, increase of wages and less people are attending each year.
But over the years Screamfest has progressed from one small haunted house to more of a Halloween carnival.
But you don’t need to start mourning just yet, the plan is to come back with something bigger, better, scarier and even more unique.
The rebranding will start as of next year, saying fan can expect a mix of Screamfest and Comic Expo with some hair raising thrills and some less spooky elements for everyone to enjoy.
