A Calgary jury has found 33 year old Rubletz guilty of second-degree murder Thursday evening. The victim, Jessica Newman, was found dead in a ditch in March of 2015 near Balzac. She suffered 75 stab wounds and her body was discovered by a group of construction workers. He was sentenced to an automatic life sentence but will get a chance early next year to apply for parole. Newman’s family was in tears as the verdict was read, a verdict that took eight hours to decide. Rubletz showed zero emotion as the verdict was read. Newman’s mother Rhonda Stewart said after the case she would “never forgive him” for is atrocities.
