Void discovered in Great Pyramid of Giza

An international team of scientists say they have discovered a hidden chamber in the Great Pyramid of Giza.

The 30-metre void is situated deep within the structure, right above the Grand Gallery.

Scientists say they aren’t sure if the space was built with a purpose in mind or just a gap in the architecture.

A process similar to an x-ray was used to discover the previously unknown space.

So far, the scanning team has not been able to find any internal passages connected to this newly discovered space.

The cosmic-ray imaging can detect large spaces, however it can’t distinguish if anything is in the room.

The team plans to work with other experts to come up with hypotheses about the area.
